What It Is

House lifting & moving done the right way

House lifting (also called house raising or structural lifting) is the process of separating a building from its foundation and carefully raising it on a network of jacks, cribbing, and steel beams. House moving takes it a step further: once the structure is up and supported, it can be relocated off its current footprint and set onto a new pad or foundation. Done correctly, the whole structure comes up and moves as one unit so framing, drywall, and finishes stay intact.

It is precise, methodical work. The lift is only part of it. Proper beam placement, balanced jacking, solid cribbing, and a controlled set-down are what protect the home. That is exactly the kind of hands-on, equipment-heavy job Skidrig is built for.

When You Need It

Common reasons to lift a house

Every property is different, but most lifts come down to one of these needs.

Flood mitigation

Elevate a home above the flood line to protect it from rising water and reduce long-term risk in low-lying areas.

New or repaired foundation

Lift the structure to rebuild, replace, or repair a failing foundation, footers, or block walls underneath.

Leveling a settled home

Correct sagging floors and a settled structure by raising and re-leveling the home back to true.

Add a basement or crawlspace

Gain height and usable space below the home by raising it and building out a new basement or crawlspace.

House moving & relocation

Lift and support a structure so it can be moved off its current footprint, relocated, and set on a new pad or foundation.

Sheds & outbuildings

Same controlled jacking and lifting for sheds, cabins, and small outbuildings that need to come up or be re-set.

Our Process

How a Skidrig house lift works

Clear steps, careful execution, and constant communication from the first visit to the final set-down.

1

Site visit & plan

We assess the structure, access, soil, and goal, then map out the safest lift plan and target height.

2

Prep & rigging

We disconnect what is needed, place steel beams and cribbing, and set jacks at balanced points.

3

Controlled lift

The home is raised evenly in stages, checking level and stability the whole way up.

4

Foundation & set-down

New foundation or repairs go in, then the structure is carefully lowered and secured back down.

FAQ

House lifting & moving questions

Can you lift my house without damaging it?

That is the goal of every lift. By placing beams correctly and raising on balanced jacks in controlled stages, the structure comes up as one unit, which protects framing and finishes. We assess each home first to plan the safest approach.

Do you move houses, not just lift them?

Yes. Beyond lifting in place, we lift and support a structure so it can be relocated off its current footprint or set on a new pad or foundation. Tell us the distance and destination and we will plan the move.

How long does a house lift or move take?

It depends on the size of the structure, the height or distance needed, and what is happening underneath (new foundation, repair, etc.). After a site visit we give you a realistic timeline for your specific job.

Do you handle the new foundation too?

We can coordinate the full scope: lifting or moving, foundation or footer work underneath, and setting the structure back down. Tell us your goal and we will lay out the plan.

What does house lifting or moving cost?

Every project is priced to the job. Use our instant pricing tool, send photos and a short description, or call us, and we will give you a direct quote after reviewing the structure and access.
